Lansing’s Worst Road Will Finally Be Resurfaced Next Week
The sign is up, and it's finally official!! The worst stretch of road in the City of Lansing is getting a well-overdue makeover beginning next week.
Beginning on Thursday, August 8, work will begin on Mount Hope Avenue as crews will resurface the pothole-infested, one-mile stretch between Aurelius Road and the East Lansing City Limits, near U.S.-127. The sign posted this week says the road will be closed to traffic for three weeks between August 8 and August 29. If the schedule goes according to plan, the roadway will be reopened just in time for tailgate traffic for the Michigan State Football season opener versus Tulsa on Friday, August 30.
Traffic can utilize Forest Road, Cavanaugh Road/Dunckel Road, and Jolly Road between Aurelius Road and Collins Road/Harrison Road while the closure is in place.
Now, it's time to get working on the soon-to-be worst road(s) in Lansing...Clippert Street, Saginaw Street, and Grand River Avenue north of the Frandor Shopping Center.
