The Lansing City Council passed an ordinance Monday night that will significantly reduce the number of days you can set off fireworks in the city.

The ordinance shortens the number of days from 30 to 12.  This ordinance aligns with the law the state legislature passed last year that limited which holidays you could set off fireworks.

According to WILX News 10, Your Breaking News and Weather Authority, anyone who violates the ordinance faces a $1,000 fine.

Local government may not restrict the use of fireworks during certain days and times.  Please click on the above link for more information
