WATCH: Cruising Downtown Lansing, 1960’s

I'm pretty sure I've shown this before, but here it is again...maybe you'll recognize some of these neighborhoods and defunct businesses.

This film looks like it was shot in the 1960's as someone cruises through downtown Lansing, Kalamazoo St. and along the just-being-built 496.

I-496 began construction in 1963 and was finished in 1970....you'll catch brief glimpses of it here under construction. You'll also see the Michigan Theater, Zales Jewelers and more old downtown establishments. Click and watch!
