How many of you knew Laingsburg had it's own opera house?

It was located on the corner of E. Grand River Avenue and S. Woodhull...and it still stands. Except it's now a different business altogether.

It was built in 1910 and was also used as a roller skating rink! The opera house closed down in 1915...just five short years...but in those years the town made the most of it, hosting hundreds of theater shows, musicals, magicians, singers and and all types of entertainers.

Some folks in Laingsburg are well aware of the old opera house, some aren't. But some people in any of the surrounding towns & cities (Lansing, Bath, Dewitt, Haslett, St. Johns, Owosso, etc.) should find some interest in this little piece of forgotten Michigan history.
