As part of the city of Lansing's fourth annual Kids Connect event, roughly 150 volunteers were working to get every student on the right foot.

Kids Connect is hosted by the city alongside local and business partners.  Part of their mission involves making sure each Lansing child feels the support of the community.

Haircuts, immunizations, eye exams, sports physicals and vouchers for shoes and clothing were available to the more than 1,000 families who participated.  More than 400 Michigan Department of Education employees also pitched in with school supplies for the event.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
