Walmart is Cracking Down on Michigan Customers Who Use These
If you're a Walmart shopper and you're a savvy shopper who likes to save money, you should know that the retailer has begun strict enforcement of a policy that may affect your wallet.
Walmart's New Coupon Policy is Being Enforced
Walmart recently updated its coupon policy and will carefully scrutinize the use of coupons as of September 24, 2023.
Here are a few highlights, according to Coupons in the News which stated that Walmart was formerly "considered one of the coupon-friendliest retailers" with fewer limitations and restrictions than most other retailers.
No More Cash Back - Walmart will no longer give you the difference if your coupon value exceeds the cost of the item you're buying. The policy also states that the overage will not be applied to other items in the transaction.
Like-Coupon Limits - The retailer is also imposing a limit of four identical coupons per household, per day. If you're attempting to use more than four identical coupons on the same product, subsequent coupons will be rejected by the register.
No Register Overrides - Under Walmart's new policy, if a coupon isn't accepted once it's scanned, it won't be accepted. Period. A Walmart employee won't be able to override the system in order to grant a discount on an item that doesn't exactly match the coupon's specifications.
It's also worth noting that Walmart only accepts printed manufacturer's coupons and will not scan manufacturer's coupons from customers' mobile phones.
The retailer's complete coupon policy is published here. Although Walmart's newly-revised policies seem strict, the changes bring its coupon policies more inline with other retailers' long-established policies.
