Rochester Hills Doctor Charged With Felony Sex Crimes at Michigan Hospitals
Police officials have launched a massive investigation into an Oakland County doctor accused of secretly filming people at multiple hospitals, homes, and a swim club.
Although not an employee, Dr. Oumair Aejaz of Rochester Hills is an internist who held credentials at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc and Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township.
Doctor Accused of Multiple Sex Crimes
The investigation is being conducted by the Oakland County Sheriff's Department. Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald says Aejaz currently faces 10 charges, but that number could increase as more evidence is discovered.
Sheriff Michael Bouchard says Aejaz allegedly engaged in activity including (but not limited to) placing hidden cameras in changing rooms, and secretly recording video of young children as young as two and gown women in different settings.
The cameras were allegedly placed in changing rooms, bathrooms, hospital rooms, and inside closets, bathrooms, and bedrooms of residential homes. Additional videos were captured at the Goldfish Swim School in Rochester.
Aejaz is also accused of sexually abusing some of his victims and capturing those sex acts on video.
“It goes beyond just capturing video,” Bouchard said. “There’s physical, assaultive, criminal conduct.”
Currently, Aejaz faces the following charges:
- One count of child sexually abusive activity.
- Four counts of capturing an image of an unclothed person.
- Five counts of using a computer to commit a crime.
Investigators tell WDIV-TV, six computers, four cellphones, and 15 external drives have been confiscated. Bouchard notes there are tens of thousands of pictures and videos and says it could take up to six months to pore through the evidence.
Who is Dr. Oumair Aejaz?
Aejaz is married and has two young boys. WJBK reports that authorities became aware of Aejaz's criminal activities when his wife came forward and presented disturbing materials.
