Comparing the Forecasts

According to the National Weather Service, a broad swath of Lower Michigan is expected to watch snow develop by late Saturday afternoon and continue at varying intensities through early Sunday morning. Freezing rain will mix in in extreme southern parts of Mid-Michigan, making for a light icy glaze and keeping snowfall totals minimal there.

AccuWeather projects the quick-moving storm to drop between 6" and 10" of snow in a narrow band across Lower Michigan, stretching from around Holland to the Saginaw Bay. Lower accumulations are expected either side of that band, and almost no snow at all is expected from around Jackson to Detroit and points south.

WILX News 10 Meteorologist Colton Cichoracki breaks his expectations down like this:

Snowfall accumulation will be highest the further north you go. From I-94 on south, 1-3″ is likely, from I-94 to I-96 2-4″ of snow is likely, and north of I-96 3-5″+ of snow is likely.

All forecasters agree that this is a quick-moving system and will be out of here by early Sunday.

Here's the latest look at predictions from the National Weather Service and AccuWeather, broken down by municipality.
