Lansing Says a Sad Farewell to One Area Family Farm
Farming is such a large part of our community in Mid Michigan. Which is why it's so sad to learn about this news out of Mason, Michigan
One family farm that's been in operation for nearly eight decades will be closing.
If you planned on making a visit to Shawhaven Farm in Mason this year, make sure that you do, because sadly, this is the last season.
Shawhaven Farm in Mason is Closing
The owners of the farm, Tami and Douglas Shaw, have decided it's time to sell the family farm. They explained to Fox47 that they're in their 70s now, and the Shaws have decided to retire and put the farm up for auction. Partly, due to the large amount of hard work it takes to maintain such a space.
Patrons have been coming to Shawhaven Farm for years for a multitude of things over the years; the farm animals, hayrides, corn mazes, haunted attractions, picking pumpkins, and a whole lot more.

The hope of the Shaws is that whoever buys the farm will keep it going.
If you have the want and know-how to operate a farm, and the funds to purchase it, the auction will begin on October 30th.
In the meantime, the Shaws are still operating Shawhaven Farm through the fall season. They have all kinds fun and haunted events going on weekends throughout October.
Go say goodbye before the end of the season.
