About Grewal Hall at 224

The newly-created space will be roomy.

As guests enter the large main hall they are greeted with an open-architecture ceiling and exposed steel trusses. The venue features two floors of entertaining space with a second floor mezzanine that overlooks the open concept main floor. The lower level includes hospitality spaces for clients to utilize in conjunction with their events. - hall224.com

Grewal Hall at 224 currently has a slate of live concert events set to begin in July, representing multiple musical genres. The facility will only be open when there is an event.

How did Grewal Hall at 224 get its name?

If you're wondering whether the name Grewal Hall has anything to do with local attorney firm Grewal Law, it does. Lansing-based MiEntertainment Group, which manages the new venue, entered into a naming rights agreement with Grewal Law citing its genuine support of the community.

Why this location and why now?

Kevin Meyer, president of MiEntertainment Group, characterized it as the right fit at the right time.

"We all felt for some time that the market was lacking a consistent well designed indoor space to enjoy and support live music and events first, while creating a new social gathering spot second. During the pandemic, our industry was completely shut down.  We decided at that time it was as good as any to actually dive into the project!" Meyer says. "There are recent generations that have not enjoyed the national and independent live music touring ecosystem as previous generations have in this market, but now they will be able to make some great memories without having to leave town to see a show."

How big is Lansing's Grewal Hall?

According to its website, Grewal Hall will has a standing room capacity of 900 and will be able to "entertain parties of up to 225 in formal banquet seating and 400 in a theater arrangement."

"Physically, Grewal Hall at 224 will be a special flexible space with good sightlines," says Meyer. "We will not be a nightclub; we are only open when we have an event. We will be diverse and inclusive, featuring many genres of music, comedy and live entertainment, not exclusive to one."

The building's design is purposely multi-functional.

"It is designed as a flexible space, for example one night with General Admission (standing), and the next night with tables and chairs, and the next night perhaps a mix of standing, tables, chairs, and theater-like seating, adapting to different audiences," states Meyer. "We have a main floor, a mezzanine, and a lower level (featuring dressing and green room areas), and are ADA accessible. The renovation is not just a coat of paint; it includes all new design, HVAC, electric and plumbing."

Grewal Hall at 224 will be available to rent for private parties, weddings and corporate events, and will be available to outside promoters as well.
