The amount of spam calls post-election, has definitely gone down, however, it doesn't mean they're still not happening. In fact, I still get at least 3 spam calls a day. I've gotten to the point, I never even answer a call that I am unaware of who they are.

But there is a tip you could follow, if you're looking to avoid getting hit by those spam callers.

Social Catfish, just recently came out with a guide of area codes that you should not answer, as they could be considered scams. Do you ever just see an area code you don't trust?

Well, this list will help you narrow down and avoid any future potential scams in the future.

A majority of the scammers will typically be after credit card information, as well as ways to steal your identity.

 Keep an eye out for scams linked to these international area codes:
  • 876 Area Code: This one’s tied to Jamaica. Unfortunately, it’s often exploited by scammers running lottery frauds, fake job offers, and other shady schemes.
  • 268 Area Code: While it’s officially connected to Antigua and Barbuda, this area code is another favorite for fraudsters trying to trick unsuspecting victims.
  • 473 Area Code: Associated with Grenada and Carriacou, but beware—it’s also a hotspot for scam activity.
  • 649 Area Code: Linked to the Turks and Caicos Islands, yet it’s been hijacked by scammers for fraudulent purposes.
  • 284 Area Code: This one represents the British Virgin Islands, but like the others, scammers have made it part of their playbook.
