10 Things Every Lansing Kid Did Growing Up In The 90’s
It's crazy to think that the 90's were 35 years ago. Is that now considered retro, or just classic? For comparison, 1999 is now as far in the past as 1974 was in 1999. I don't like that... let me grab my Capri Sun and have a moment please.
So, what nostalgic things were kids in the 90's doing here in Lansing? Let's take you down memory lane, shall we?

10.) Hung Out at the Lansing Mall Like It Was Disney World
Still a place where you can find thriving businesses. Back in the 90's though, this was the absolute place to be after school. Hot Topic anyone?
9.) Loaded Up on Candy at Quality Dairy
Anyone else sing the jingle in their head? If you were a kid in the 90's, you were probably filling up on Candy that was sold for a penny! Let that sink in.
8.) Field Trip to the Potter Park Zoo
Any excuse to get out of class was a great excuse. Kids to this day still make this venture. (You can qualify for bonus points if you fed any animals).
7.) Got 'Lost' in Schuler's Book Store
Let's be honest, TV was great, but so were those cookies... I meant books. Definitely trying to finish off that new Goosebumps book.
6.) Did some Skating at EDRU or Metro
Does anyone else miss roller-skating? Neon lights, the pop songs, the food. Plus those endless laps around the rink to impress your crush. (Can we forget about that face plant now?)
5.) Watched the Fireworks at Oldsmobile Park
Wait, we just totally threw you a curveball with that one didn't we? This was back when those Lansing Lugnuts were pretty new, and Big Lug, was just that. A Big Lug.
4.) Spent Summers at Hawk Island... Before the Splash Pad
Sorry 2000's kids. You got the splash pad, but we got the Hawk Island before the splash pad. We made our own fun!
3.) Listened to 100.7 WITL
Listen, you don't have to love country music, there was probably another station. But, back in the 90's you were typically catching your favorite song on the radio.
2.) Collected Beanie Babies from Meijer like they were GOLD!
Admit it, you still have that Princess Diana bear somewhere... wonder if it is worth anything.
1.) Argued Over Whether Frandor was Lame or Cool
I think we are still having this debate right now, aren't we? You either were there because it was the place to hang, or because your parent's dragged you all the way out there.
