The Detroit Lions Last 100 Games Record Show Their Improvements Are Just Beginning
It's been one heck of a run for Detroit Lions fans of late. Under head coach Dan Campbell and quarterback Jared Goff, the team has soared to heights they never have including an NFC championship game appearance to close out the 2023 season.
The 2024 campaign has started well but a look back at the last 100 games proves the work is just beginning. This chart shows the win-loss record of the last 100 games for every team in the NFL (as of mid-October 2024).

The Lions are sitting well below .500 with a 40-58-2 record. Only 8 teams have a worse record over the same span. It's easy to forget that MCDC, as fans call Coach Campbell, didn't win out of the gate. It took time for him to build his system and team - and credit for the Lions ownership to trust the process.
In Campbell's tenure with the Lions, he has been at the helm for 59 of those last 100 games and is just above .500 with a 30-28-1 record (counting regular and post season) after Week 6 of the NFL season. Prior to Campbell's hire the 31 prior games of the last 100, the team's record was 10-20-1.
Take out Campbell's first year, 2021, where the team went 3-13 and Campbell has guided the team to an impressive 27-15 over 2022-2023-2024. Should the team be able to continue that trajectory, then watch them climb into the rarified air of teams like Kansas City, Buffalo and Baltimore.
