All good things end eventually and the $1 drinks were phased out in 2017. McDonald's claims that they want to keep all franchises consistent and the best way to do so, is to no longer allow customers to refill drinks themselves. This shouldn't come as a surprise, especially after McDonald's restaurants had to pay higher wages to employees, the money had to come from somewhere. Enjoy those refills while you can because your local Michigan McDonald's will be phasing out the drink station over the next 10 years so watch out you may be asked to pay for that refill.
