425 Acres of Michigan is Burning, Planes Are Dropping Water
A huge chunk of a Michigan forest is on fire and now planes have been sent in to drop water to try and put out the blaze.

Most of the time when you hear about a forest fire it is in California, Texas, Alaska, or some of the other western states.

Forest fires are dangerous to the land and animals and also release harmful pollutants into the air like carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and ozone precursors. These pollutants cause a range of health issues, from eye and respiratory irritation to more serious conditions like heart failure, bronchitis, and premature death.
Forest fires don't just happen out west, Michigan experiences 10,000 to 12,000 wildfires annually. Fire departments across Michigan have a tough job of protecting our forest lands. Firemen in the Upper Peninsula are battling two separate blazes at this time.

425 Acres of Michigan is Burning, Planes Are Dropping Water
According to MLive, two forest fires are burning in the Upper Peninsula. One fire is in the Ottawa National Forest and the other is in the Hiawatha National Forest.
Over 200 acres are burning south of Munising Schoolcraft County and over 225 acres are on fire by Summit Lake near Michigamme.
The DNR has warned Michiganders for over a month about extremely dry conditions. It doesn't take much under these dry conditions, a spark or ember, and some wind to cause huge damage to Michigan forests.
The fires have gotten so bad that Fire Boss planes have been sent in to try and contain them.
The planes have been brought in from the U.S. Forest Service to aid in the wildfire battles. In 60 water drops these planes dumped 48,000 gallons of water. Firefighters and pilots are working around the clock to put the fires out. Officials are warning Michiganders across the state to work hard to prevent more fires from starting.
