Haslett Patriotic Dog is on the Mend

The "Flag Man of Haslett" says Jayda, the dog who's accompanied him on patriotic walks along Marsh Road for the past several years, is doing just fine after a truck struck her Monday morning.

The 7 year old beagle/basset hound/pit bull mix is expected to get better, said Colin Campbell, a familiar flag waving figure to Haslett residents for close to 30 years.  But she'll be out of commission for a while.

Personally speaking, I can't even count all the times I've driven past Colin and his dog on Marsh Road in Haslett.  Colin has been waving his American flag for many years and his dog Jayda has always been by his side.

Campbell says the accident was his fault.  He normally gives Jayda a signal to cross Marsh Road at a certain point, but this time he didn't.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
