Former Michigan State University gymnastics coach, Kathie Klages, was found guilty of lying to police by a jury. The jury convicted Klages of two counts of lying to police, according to LSJ.

With this verdict, Klages is now the second former MSU employee tied to convicted sex offender Larry Nassar to be found guilty of criminal charges.

William Strampel, former dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine, was convicted of misconduct by a jury last year in relation to his treatment of women and neglect to supervise Nassar after the 2014 assault investigation.

Currently, Strampel is serving one year in the Ingham County Jail and is expected to be released early for good behavior.

Klages will face up to four years in prison.

Prosecutors convinced the jury that Klages had lied in an interview conducted in June of 2018 by Michigan Attorney General special agents.

When being interviewed, Klages denied that two gymnasts told her in 1997 that Nassar had sexually abused them.

Both gymnasts were at the ages of 14 and 16 while participating at the Spartan Youth Gymnastics program, which Klages had overseen.

Klages maintained that she had no memory of gymnasts complaining to her about sexual assault allegations.
