Additional Information

The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan (NKFM) is asking the community to join more than 400 walkers and supporters expected at their annual Greater Lansing Kidney Walk to fight kidney disease on Sunday, June 9 at Hawk Island County Park, 1601 East Cavanaugh Road, Lansing. Registration begins at 12:00 p.m. The Opening Ceremony and Walk kicks off at 1:45 p.m.
Before and during the walk, NKFM will transform an area of Hawk Island County Park into an energetic atmosphere for people with kidney disease, living kidney donors, transplant patients and their loved ones as a way to celebrate their lives. Unlike a traditional charity walk, the Kidney Walk goes the extra mile to support those fighting kidney disease with an event full of celebration including special food (appropriate for those fighting the disease), massages and giveaways. The day will include music, food and beverages, kids activities, demonstrations from Impression5, a visit from Sparty and Zeke the Wonderdog, and much more! Stay after the Walk and enjoy Hawk Island’s swimming beach, playground, hiking trails, paddle boats, fishing, Splashpad and beach volleyball! The Greater Lansing Kidney Walk will draw attention to the importance of early detection and kidney disease prevention, while raising funds in support of kidney patients and their families. As in past years, WILX TV 10 news anchor David Andrews will be the MC of the 2019 Walk. Jack C. Davis, Attorney of Loomis, Ewert, Parsley, Davis & Gotting P.C. and April M. Clobes, President and CEO of Michigan State University Federal Credit Union, will serve as the Honorary Chairs.
Our Local Presenting Sponsor is AF Group. Fresenius Medical Care is the National Presenting Sponsor. Additional major sponsors include the MSU Federal Credit Union; Loomis, Ewert, Parsley, Davis & Gotting P.C.; Meijer; WILX-TV 10; Ingham Nephrology & Hypertension; McLaren Greater Lansing; Sparrow Health System, the University of Michigan Transplant Center; and the Kahl and Caltrider Investment Group. Participants can register online before the walk date or onsite on June 9. Walkers over the age of 12 are asked to raise at least $20 to offset the cost of the venue, entertainment, and parking. Walkers aged 3-12 are asked to raise at least $10. Walkers aged two and under are free. Participants who raise $100 or more receive a walk t-shirt.
