Full disclosure - I own Disney stock and hope somebody at Disney sees this and sends me tons of free Disney stuff. At least I'm honest about it. And technically I'm a part owner, so....

Bob Chapek - who received his MBA at Michigan State, has been named the new CEO of the Walt Disney Company, effective immediately.

Former Disney CEO Bob Iger had already talked about stepping down by the end of his contract, but today's news was unexpected. Iger will "assume the role of Executive Chairman and direct the company’s creative endeavors" and work to "ensure a smooth and successful transition through the end of his contract on December 31, 2021."

According to WDW News Today, Bob Chapek got his BS in Microbiology at Indiana University - Bloomington. Which proves you never know where life's going to take you after college.

Before his latest move, Bob was President of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, then President of Distribution for The Walt Disney Studios and President of Disney Consumer Products. He becomes CEO after being Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. So, he was kind of running things already.

He spoke at Michigan State’s commencement ceremonies in 2015.

Here's the press release from Disney. The company I own. They'll be relieved to hear that I approve of this move.
