According to the Lansing State Journal, Meridian Township will have the final say on the details of a proposed Costco warehouse under a tentative deal reached Tuesday between East Lansing and Meridian Township officials.

Costco is proposing a 154,000 square foot warehouse, plus a tire facility and fueling station that would be built on roughly half of the 64.7 acres that was previously home to the Four Winds Golf Course.

Cooperation between Meridian Township and East Lansing will allow this to happen.  The proposed Costco site is under a so-called Section 108 agreement, which is an economic development tool used among neighboring communities to foster redevelopment, and includes a division of property taxes.
