When was the last time you had a really good workout at one of your favorite local gyms? I can honestly say these days, my workouts consist of gardening, playing golf, and going for daily walks.

At this point in time, gym owners in Greater Lansing say they are frustrated and worried about the future of their businesses.

According to the Lansing State Journal, "under state orders, Conquest Fitness should be closed to customers but both of its locations, in Dewitt and Bath townships, opened nearly two weeks ago."

The gym's reopening comes six weeks after both locations reopened in late June and then shut down again after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

This is a very difficult time for all of us. There are many things that we used to do that we simply cannot do these days because of the coronavirus pandemic.

We know that people like to workout to simply reduce anxieties related to the pandemic and even loss of jobs.

Several gyms have opened and closed after receiving cease and desist orders. Some include Champion Fitness, Crunch Fitness in East Lansing, and Boxing in Delta Township.

"In total, 13 businesses in the Lansing area have received cease and desist letters from local officials after opening in violation of that order or one of the dozens of subsequent orders." (LSJ)
