Eaton County sheriff's deputies hit the streets today with body cameras intended to provide a sense of accountability around police activities and improve court evidence.

The Lansing Police Department will begin a body camera pilot project within the next two weeks.  The project could be followed by an investment of up to $300,000 to equip all officers with body cameras as early as this summer.

The two departments are the largest in the Lansing region to deploy body cameras.  The cameras record in high definition color.  Here's the latest from the Lansing State Journal.
