It's like Deja vu all over again in not only Michigan, but across the entire country. And it's all due to the high demand for crude oil.

Yesterday I went to a Speedway gas station in Okemos and paid $4.25 a gallon for unleaded regular gasoline. Did it make me angry? Yes.

We certainly don't deserve this and now we all have to pay these outrageous gas prices, and they're only going to get a lot worse over time.

Here are some of the best ways you can save money at the gas pump:

1. Drive electric cars. If you have an electric car, good for you. All you have to do is charge your car every night and off you go in the morning straight to work. No worries about rising gas prices.

2. Grocery store rewards programs. This most certainly helps out my wife and I because we shop at Kroger and they have a great discount system set up for shoppers who earn points. You get one fuel point for every dollar spent at Kroger. This helps big time.

3. Don't drive so much. Drive only when you need to. This will help you save on rising gas prices if you really focus on how much driving you do in a given week.

4. Commute to work. Take turns riding to and from work with your next door neighbor. This can help save money on gas in both vehicles.

5. Take the bus. It's better than paying higher gas prices. Do the research and see if this can work for you. As long as you know where to catch the local bus and where to exit at the end of your workday, you should be good.

6. Use gas apps. This is something you can use every day to see who has the cheapest gas around.
