Best Treat in Northern Michigan is Moomers Homemade Ice Cream
I just got back from vacationing in beautiful Ludington last week and found it simply wonderful and relaxing.
My wife and I go to Ludington every summer because we love the area. We love Stearns Park which over looks Lake Michigan. We also enjoy getting ice cream at the "House of Flavors."
This summer, my wife and I decided to take a day trip from Ludington straight to Traverse City. We both wanted to get ice cream at Moomers and play a game of putt putt at Pirates Cove. And that's exactly what we did.
We're not talking about ordinary ice cream here, we're talking about Moomers Homemade Ice Cream, one of Northern Michigan's best treats.
Moomers is well known. People come from all over mid-Michigan just to see this incredible ice cream shop that sits on an 80 acre operating dairy farm.
According to mlive.com:
The on-site creamery and production area at their location, 7263 N. Long Lake Road, means Moomers can create more than 160 different flavors of ice cream, and have around 20 rotating at any given time. They always try to have staples like vanilla, chocolate and butter pecan on hand. Ditto for their signature flavor, Cherries Moobilee. This black cherry ice cream is studded with sweet cherries, brownie chunks and laced with a fudge swirl.
This isn't your ordinary ice cream treat shop, this is a production in itself and it's worth the trip to the Traverse City area to check it out for yourself.
Mlive.com also adds:
While Moomers has been a regional favorite for years, it was thrust into the national spotlight in 2008 when customer nominations led to it being celebrated as having America’s Best Scoops by “Good Morning America.” More accolades began to stack up like a triple-scoop, including magazine mentions by Rachael Ray and some Midwest publications.
My wife and I enjoyed the day trip just so we could check out not only downtown shopping in Traverse City, but one of Michigan's iconic ice cream shops around, Moomers Homemade Ice Cream.
