Celebrate Your Birthday With Free Stuff and Visit Some of These Awesome Places

I have birthdays on my mind.  Last week we celebrated my husband's birthday, and I always try to come up with a new way to celebrate. My birthday is next month, and I always thought if I didn't do a big celebration and treated the day like any other normal day, I wouldn't get older.  So how is that working out for me? Not so good, birthdays seem to come whether I want them to or not.

My husband, David, had his birthday celebration start early in the day.  My daughter took him kayaking, and they had a blast. That evening I took David and our girls out and we went Go-Karting and ax throwing. It was awesome. It was one of the best birthdays ever.

If you or a friend or family member has a birthday coming up, I have some good ideas for you.

The birthday celebration could start off early in the morning by checking out a beautiful sunrise over Lake Huron. Everyone goes on about beautiful sunsets, but sunrise is also a beautiful thing to see.

Since you are already up, how about a birthday breakfast freebie.  Stop at Denny's and grab a free Original Grand Slam on your birthday. This only works if your a Denny's Rewards Member. If you are enrolled with IHOP's Pancake Revolution e-mail list you get a coupon for a free Rooty Tooty Fresh n' Fruity breakfast on your birthday.

Want to grab some free food for your birthday dinner? Red Robin will give you a free burger, and Steak n'Shake will give you a coupon for a free birthday meal.

Now on to freebie birthday desserts. Applebee's will give you a free dessert, Buffalo Wild Wings will also give you a free dessert. How about a free drink from Starbucks,  Biggby Coffee, or Dunkin Donuts.  Tropical Smoothie Cafe will give you a free smoothie on your birthday.

You might want to check ahead before heading out for birthday freebies.  Most of these businesses require you to be a member of their rewards program.

Your birthday celebration could include stopping at one of our state's many wineries. for an afternoon of wine tasting. Yeah, this one is my favorite. (Hint, hint)

If you want to feel your age on your day of birth, how does running up a sand dune sound? This looks easy enough, but once you start heading up the sand you will realize you are not a 12 year old anymore, the sand dune is bigger than you thought, and you will definitely need oxygen if you even make it to the top. Going down the sand dune is a totally different experience.
