Where was this program when I was learning how to swim at such a young age? I never really took any lessons but I wish I would have years ago.

I feel like it's important to take lessons in anything you want to improve on. I've taken plenty of bowling lessons, golfing lessons, music lessons, and more.

I never took any swimming classes, at least as far back as i can remember. I pretty much taught myself how to swim by not sinking to the bottom of the pool.

Have I ever told you that I really don't care for treading water? It takes way to long and it tires me out so quickly. I think I like swimming under water the most if I had to choose something about swimming that I enjoy.

So now is your chance to have your kids take free swim lessons through the Ann Arbor YMCA this summer.

This is the perfect opportunity for children between the ages of 3 and 12 years old. And the best part, it's free!

When do swim classes begin? Mlive.com has you covered:

Classes in Ann Arbor, for children age 3-12, take place from June 20-24 at the Y's Downtown Membership Branch, 400 West Washington St. Classes in Ypsilanti, for children age 5-12, take place at several McKinley Properties across Washtenaw County, including Eastern Michigan University, Golfside Lake Apartments, Roundtree Apartments Schooner Apartments, from July to August.

We're looking for the next gold medalist to compete some day in the Summer Olympics. Or just keep it fun and simple for the kids this summer as they learn how to swim for possibly the very first time.

Mlive.com adds:

Registration is underway for the Ann Arbore YMCA's free annual Safety Around Water classes in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.
