According to USA Today, airlines project 14.2 million passengers will fly over the Labor Day holiday, a 3% increase from last year that could break records for summer travel.

The industry group Airlines for America expects about 2 million daily passengers from Wednesday Sept. 2 through Tuesday Sept. 8, which would mark an increase of about 59,000 passengers per day from the comparable holiday period last year.

To accommodate the additional passengers and meet demand, airlines boosted their schedules with more flights and larger planes.  Air travel continues to be more accessible and a bargain for most cost conscious consumers.
