A new Sparty has moved into the MSU Union in East Lansing.  It's made of bronze and won't get around much.  The new bronze Sparty is perched on a  bench with its arms outstretched, which is perfect for photo opportunities.

At an unveiling ceremony, dozens of people waited in line to sit on the bench and be photographed while the real Sparty struck a pose and soaked in all the attention.

The $150,000 statue project is being funded entirely by donations.  The MSU Senior Class Council picked the statue fund as its senior class gift, an annual fundraiser for special campus gifts.

University officials said the statue adds some extra polish to the MSU Union, a campus gathering spot where students can eat and study.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
