It is the Lenten season and for many that means giving up red meat, alcohol and for some even giving up on social media.  However their are some folks who consider dining on Muskrats to be a Lenten delicacy.    Yes, I said Muskrats.

This is apparently so popular in Southeast Michigan that even churches are getting on board.  Trinity Lutheran Church , which is located in Wyandotte still holds their annual Muskrat dinner to kick off the Lenten season. ( they also offer other choices if Muskrat is not your meal of choice).

An MLive article describes preparing Muskrat as  a fine art.  There is the process of removing the animals 'musk sack' so it does not ruin the whole meal.
