WATCH: Local TV Station WSYM Signs on: December 1, 1982

When WSYM Fox 47 debuted back on  December 1, 1982, it was under moniker WFSL-TV 47. They have come a long way since then and have garnered the well-deserved respect it deserves.

They battled criticism and a few odds but came out smelling like a rose. I've had wonderful experiences in the past with the staff at WSYM and I'm glad they hung in there all these years.

Take a look at the video above and you'll see the VERY FIRST TIME they went on the air; their sign-on program looks like they're going to be either a public access or PBS station. But they proved to be a network powerhouse in the years to come.

Next year they will celebrate their 35th anniversary...!
