We all remember the good times at the old Pontiac Silverdome.  And now get ready for this, a start time and public viewing procedures have been set for a Sunday morning explosion that will kick off the yearlong demolition of the Pontiac Silverdome.

The city of Pontiac announced Tuesday that the small explosion is scheduled to happen inside the Silverdome at 8:30 a.m.  The blast will break metal beams on the perimeter of the stadium that kept its roof inflated.

There will be a viewing area for the public to witness the explosion.  That area is the Water Resources Commission's parking lot.

Once the explosion is over, the remainder of demolition work will be done with hydraulic excavators and completed in sections.  The process is expected to take about a year.  Here's more from the Detroit Free Press.
