If America were voting for the best picture Oscar, most would choose 'American Sniper' for best picture.

In a poll of more than 1,000 moviegoers by movie ticket site fandango.com for USA Today, American Sniper was the clear favorite for the film they thought deserved to take home the Academy Awards' top prize Sunday.

The two Oscar front runners, Boyhood and Birdman, tied for fourth.  Sniper makes sense as the popular choice, given its $306 million box office haul.

Here are all the nominated movies for best picture:  American Sniper, The Imitation Game, Selma, Boyhood, Birdman, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Theory of Everything and Whiplash.

My pick for best picture:  American Sniper!
