The old Clara's Restaurant will be part of a bigger plan for Downtown Lansing.

According to the Lansing State Journal, old Clara's Lansing Station will start to undergo renovations and be part of Gillespie Group's bigger plan for a new hotel and marketplace in the Downtown Lansing area. There are no specific plans for what's going to happen for Clara's just yet, but President Pat Gillespie would like to see "a bar and restaurant with an entertainment component for the space."

It doesn't seem like Gillespie Group wants to lose everything that made Clara's Lansing Station iconic. Gillespie said he's" looking forward to re-energizing the space" while still "celebrating the history of the train station." For now, we'll have to wait and see. Work on Clara's won't begin until just before the new hotel and grocery store are just about to open, and that won't be for about two more years from now. Read more about the project here.
