What Was “Winnie The Pooh” Named After?
The original Winnie the Pooh was a real live bear (born in 1914) found outside of Winnipeg, Canada, hence the name 'Winnie'. Author A.A. Milne named the character Winnie-the-Pooh after a teddy bear owned by his son, Christopher Robin Milne, who was the basis for the character Christopher Robin.
