According to the Lansing State Journal, about 100 students walked out of Waverly High school Thursday morning, waving handmade signs and chanting in support of their teachers, who are working without a contract.

The students poured out of the high school about 10:20 a.m., heading south on Snow Road toward the district's administration building.

Student organizers said they were concerned that the teachers are facing financial hardship working without a contract since June.  They also said they did not like the fact that the school board abruptly canceled public comment on the issue during a meeting Monday.
