Josh Woodrum camped outside for 36 hours in temperatures that got down in to the 20's with arctic gear and a cot.

Everyone thought he wanted to be the first customer at the new Saddleback BBQ in Okemos.

The prize for being first was six months of free meat, but Josh Woodrum was there for a bigger cause.

Instead of collecting the six months worth of free food, he asked that Saddleback BBQ Okemos donate the monetary value to Volunteers of America.

According to the Lansing State Journal, Saddleback BBQ made a $750 donation in Woodrum's name.  Woodrum added $250 of his own money to make it a $1,000 total donation.
