Q: How old was Moon Zappa when she did the song VALLEY GIRL?

A: Referred to (back then) as Moon Unit Zappa, Frank's daughter was just 14 when she recorded VALLEY GIRL with her dad Frank in 1982. Moon came up with most of the lyrics herself after hanging out with girlfriends - most notably at the Sherman Oaks Galleria. Due to the popularity of the song, girls across America began using “valspeak” in their everyday lives. The song was Frank's only American Top 40 single - although he did have a couple of other chart songs: DON'T EAT THE YELLOW SNOW (#86, 1974) and DANCIN' FOOL (#45, 1979). The song also appears on Frank's album “Ship Arriving Too Late to Save a Drowning Witch.”
