County law enforcement, prosecutors and school officials are sending a message to local parents this month.  Threats of school violence are not a joke and students who make them could face felony charges.

An April 16 letter signed by school superintendents of six school districts which include, Bath, Dewitt, Fowler, Ovid-Elsie, Pewamo-Westphalia and St. Johns, urged parents to talk to their children about the "power of their words."

It comes on the heels of several potential threats of school violence made regarding schools in the Lansing area this year.

These threats are not viewed as a joke and cannot and will not be tolerated.  The Lansing State Journal has more information.
