It is one of those jobs that somebody has to do, thankfully not me.  They are called the Mackinac Bridge Steeplejacks, they are the ones who are sent out to chip away at the ice that is falling from the bridges towers and cables.

The ice chunks that was falling from the bridges three towers was the reason the bridge had to close down a few times last week.  The Mackinac Bridge Authority said over the weekend that more closures could be expected this week as ice remains up on the higher points of the bridge.

The steeplejacks are the brave ones who walk up on the top areas of the bridge and knock off the ice (a job I would NEVER want).

At this point, the Bridge Authority says that they would remind those folks using the Mackinac Bridge, be flexible because additional closures are possible,  and its for their safety.
