I love this time of year, the weather gets warmer, festivals begin and one of the first Festivals in our area is The Cristo Rey Festival , this weekend, which has been going on in Lansing for 37 years.

First lets talk about the food.  AUTHENTIC Mexican food, that is cooked right there, if you have never been to Mexico this will be the closest you will get.   Delicious!!

The first year of the festival was pretty small, says festival chairman Manuel Delgado, Jr..  They had two food booths, and had to borrow a stage from the city plus their beer tent was a little cooler like something you would take to the beach.

The Cristo Rey Festival has grown so much that now it is under two giant Circus Tents, and is manned by more than 250 volunteers.

The festival starts this afternoon at 4 and runs until 11pm, Saturday  it is 11 to 11pm, and 10am to 7pm Sunday with a Catholic Mass.

Having gone several times, I highly recommend it.   The festival is at the Cristo Rey Church on East Miller Rd. in Lansing.   Check it our and my advice is go hungry.
