A nearly 50 foot blue spruce from Sault Ste. Marie has been selected as Michigan's 31st official Christmas tree.  The tree will be cut down Oct. 27 and displayed outside Michigan's Capitol building.

According to WILX TV 10, it's being donated by Al Farrish and will arrive in Lansing Oct. 29.  The tree is in Farrish's yard about 2 miles south of the Soo Locks.

The Capitol staff wanted a smaller tree placed closer to the street.  The tree lighting will occur Nov. 18 during Lansing's Silver Bells celebration.
