Some Big Box Office Bombs

Many Movie studios and producers just throw money at a project that they feel is going to smash records at the box office.   Many times this has totally blown up in their faces.

Here are just a few of the box office bombs that ended up costing studios millions and even some people their careers.

See if you remember some of these...…

Conan The Barbarian (2011)  This one was a stinker and cost the studio about 50 million dollars.

Cowboys and Aliens (2011) Even having a cast that included Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig couldn't save this one.   The studio lost about 75 million on that one.

Land of the Lost (remake from tv show)   This Will Ferrell movie did not do well at the box office, but for some reason my family loved it..heck we even bought the DVD.

Blackhat  (2015)  this starring Chris Hemsworth and academy award winner Viola Davis.   the star power of these two couldn't help....,.BOMB

Ghostbusters (2016)  So many held out hope for this film, but in the end it totally tanked and end up costing Sony around 70 million dollars.

Poseidon (2006)     Yeah, saw it.....not good.

The Wolfman (2010)  remember this bomb?   Me either.   Featuring Benicia del Toro, Anthony Hopkins and Emily Blunt could not even make this one work.  the financial loss for the studio was around 80 million dollars.

The Green Lantern (2011)  This film staring Ryan Reynolds cost the studio about 98 million.  In his defense, he did make it up to them with his Deadpool movies , they are huge hits.
