Jan Hooks, a beloved 'Saturday Night Live' alumna, passed away this morning (Oct. 9). She was 57 years old.

According to TMZ, the star had been battling a serious illness, although the site did not offer specifics. Hooks was a cast-member on the late night show from 1986-91, working alongside iconic comedians such as Chris Farley, Mike Myers and Dennis Miller. She later appeared on fellow 'SNL' star Tina Fey's show, '30 Rock.'

CNN reports that Hooks is remembered for her 'Saturday Night Live' impersonations, including Bette Davis, Ann-Margret, Sally Kellerman and Jodie Foster.

Hooks' comedy peers and her fans took to Twitter today to mourn the loss.

"Wonderful lady!" commented Arsenio Hall, while 'Juno' director Diablo Cody lamented, "Jan Hooks and her characters were quoted a LOT around my house growing up. RIP to an amazing performer."
