Queen guitarist Brian May said that an asteroid in Jupiter's orbit has been named after Queen's late frontman Freddie Mercury and he received the honor on what would have been his 70th birthday.

Freddie Mercury was such an amazing talent.   He not only had an amazing voice, but he also wrote and preformed some huge hits like Bohemian Rhapsody and We are the Champions, the band released over a dozen albums.

May, who has a doctorate in Astrophysics from Imperial College, in London (seriously), said the newly named asteroid is just a dot of light, but it's a very special dot of light and recognizes Mercury's musical and preforming talents.

Freddie Mercury was born on September 5th, 1946 and passed away in 1991, the year the asteroid was discovered.
