According to the Lansing State Journal, the Sears in Frandor Shopping Center has avoided the fate of dozens of other Sears stores across the country.

On Thursday, Sears Holdings, which also owns Kmart, announced the closure of 48 Sears stores.  Earlier this year, the company announced plans to close an additional 64 Kmart and 39 Sears locations.

There are 17 traditional Sears stores in Michigan, according to the company's website.  Sears stores in Dearborn, Sterling Heights, Traverse City and Flint were on the list of closures.

Liquidation sales will begin as early as June 14 at the closing stores.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
