The national Highway Traffic Safety Administration is requiring all new light vehicles....including cars, SUVs, trucks and vans to have rear view visibility systems in effect, requiring backup cameras. The rule which would become final in 60 days, would start phasing in on May 1, 2016 and would be 100% on May 1, 2018.

Under the rule, all vehicles would have to give the driver a view of a 10-foot by 20-foot zone directly behind the vehicle.

This is a great idea, simply because of blind spots behind all vehicles. You never know what's behind your car at any given moment. If you have kids who like to play outside in the driveway, this would be another great reason as to why there should be the rear-view camera rule for new cars.
