According to the Lansing State Journal, the city estimates an exemption in its proposed income tax could mean nearly a quarter of Michigan State University's undergraduates aren't taxed.

The $5,000 poverty exemption floated by city council Tuesday will be discussed and potentially voted on at an Oct. 10 public hearing.

The exemption means that anyone making less than $5,000 a year would not have to pay the city's income tax.  Click on the above link for more information.
