A study that looked at dog attacks in the U.S. and Canada over a 32 year period found that pit bulls by far were responsible for the most injuries and deaths to humans of any breed.

PetBreeds.com says that it compiled the data from 1982 to 2014 strictly from press reports so the actual number of attacks and deaths involving all breeds is probably much higher.

With the understanding that some dog lovers may be upset with the findings, the group issued the following disclaimer, "We acknowledge that the data can be evaluated in a few different contexts, but instead of drawing definitive conclusions, we will simply show the number of attacks."

This is the list of the top three:

1.  Pit Bull-attacks causing injury: 3,397-Deaths 295

2.  Rottweiler-attacks causing injury: 535-Deaths 85

3.  German Shepherd-attacks causing injury: 112-Deaths 15
