Lansing's Old Newsboys, a nonprofit organization, raised more than $181,000 and set a record for donations.

The sale of the annual Lansing Spoof Journal, which takes a humorous look at the news of the past year, is the organization's primary fundraiser and occurs in December.

The Old Newsboys were able to help more than 7,000 children in the Greater Lansing area in 2016 by providing them new pairs of shoes and boots.

The previous record, set last year, recorded donations of just over $178,000, according to officials.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
