Two social services agencies said they've reached an agreement that will preserve programs that serve the homeless population in Lansing.

Effective Oct. 1, Holy Cross Services will assume responsibility for a dozen programs now run by the Volunteers of America at a facility on North Larch Street.

Those programs include VOA's day center, night shelter and emergency shelter, as well as its community kitchen, housing support programs and medical and dental clinics.

The VOA will continue to operate some programs for veterans, a senior housing facility and a pair of thrift stores in Lansing, among other services.  Here's more from the Lansing State Journal.
